We are clearly at a crossroads in relation to financial regulation. We are at the end of the ‘gentlemen’s agreements’ road characterised most recently by self-regulation and we are now heading down a very different road, as the recent avalanche of regulation (MiFID, MAR and MAD, I am looking at you) shows. I think that you’ll agree that it’s all very frustrating. Most of us believe in thoughtful cost-analysis and considered efficiency drives over uneducated broad-brush cost cutting and working like a dog to drive profits. But the market consistently plumps for the latter. Prior to her role at Bips Global, Lene worked for the Australian Stock Exchange in Derivatives Risk and for the Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong in the Market Supervision and Intermediaries Supervision areas. She was a key person in the first Director's Disqualification litigation case undertaken by the Financial Secretary of Hong Kong; worked as a Regional Chief Operating Officer for ABN AMRO Compliance and supported the integration process for RBS in Asia as the Head of Programme Management for the region. Lene now works for Bips Global supporting companies with complex operational change requirements.
