About me:

Julian King is co-founder and commercial director of Volta, a specialist developer and operator of purpose-designed data centres for users of latency-sensitive cloud services in the financial services industries. In this role, he is responsible for directing the company’s commercial and sales strategy, bringing a wealth of experience from the data centre, real estate and business sectors.

Prior to the formation of Volta, Julian was chief executive officer at Galileo Connect, a pioneer of the modular data centre and a leading developer and operator of pre-designed, purpose built data centres.

Previously, he was commercial director at Global Switch, a leading operator of over 3 million sq ft of mission critical data centres in Europe and Asia Pacific. Julian joined Global Switch in 2002 at a time when the sector was suffering the effects of the demise of the dot com boom and was instrumental in repositioning the business to attract global corporates and their reseller partners.

Earlier in his career, Julian served as European Managing Director of HQ Global Workplaces, one of the leading operators of serviced offices worldwide, where he was instrumental in returning the company to profitability and increasing its market share during the economic downturn of 2000.  He was also a Board Director of a leading firm of property consultants specialising in the provision of real estate advice to worldwide corporates.
